Lost in Space
So, it looks like Sunday mornings may be the best morning to snag those paid post opportunities. Perhaps a lot of other posties are church-goin' folk.
I stepped over to the computer in between flipping pancakes for my daughter and her 2 friends that spent the night. I almost turned right around and walked away from the list of OPEN opportunities staring right back at me from the computer.
I am so used to them being grabbed up already, but just a split second later, I realized there were 3 open. I snagged the first one that jumped out at me, $30.00, reserved it and then opened the list in a new tab so as to be sure my first grabbed opp would remain safe. I had locked it in.
The second tab opens and I am happy to see the other 2 opportunities are still there, so I grab the second one, an $8.00 post opportunity. OK, she's locked in, moving on to tab #3. I grab the third and, well, you get the idea.
The first $30. op was going to involve creating a video, uploading it to YouTube, registering for the advertiser's site and entering their latest contest with my video, among other requirements. This could take a while, so I decided to work on the easy peasy $8 opps.
I wrap up my first op, $8. and move on to refresh my pages and NOW THE $30 and other $8 OP ARE GONE!!! I am PISSED! f'n ppp site. I don't know what in the hell caused these to disappear. You have to click on the opp to reserve it, answer a security question, and you get a confirmation page back, essentially letting you know you have successfully grabbed the op.
Well, needless to say, I submitted a ticket to ppp, minus telling them I am pissed, although I'd like to rip someone a new one. I am really working on getting my blogs off the ground and I could use all the paid ops I can get.
Yesterday I shot off an email to another paid to blog site I use, Blogsvertise.com. Actually, I can't even really say I use them. I signed on with them about a month ago. Their site is operated a bit different than PayPerPost. On this site, they hand pick your blog specifically and you have x amount of time to respond to the opportunity. So, I check in everyday, sometimes twice a day, and still no bones have been thrown my say. When I asked about that, I actually got a real human response, not an automated email. She says that it does take a while and that if my readership climbs in numbers, my chances for getting picked with climb. But, she added that it is highly appreciated, recognized and remembered that I wrote in expressing interest. Not all bloggers proactively seek out the work, I guess, so by me reaching out and asking, it has increased my standing. (if only in her eyes. I don't know, maybe she checked out my profile pic and she likes brunettes, ha ha)
So, two lessons today in regards to paid for posts. 1.) Don't get your knickers in a twist. Computers still f up, and your blatantly obvious reserve may simply still just go up in smoke.
And 2.) Ask and ye shall receive.
